PERSONAL HYGIENE: RULES AND ADVICE FOR CLEANSING THE BODY

A correct personal hygiene regime is fundamental for keeping our bodies in good health. It can help prevent some of the more common illnesses and also protects the other people we come into contact with on a daily basis.
In fact, hygiene is a medical discipline that studies the relationship between humans, the environment and health, establishing measures and guidelines for individual and collective behaviour, to prevent disease and increase our overall health and well-being.
Good personal hygiene starts with the hands because it’s the part of the body that comes into contact with external objects the most. After washing your hands, it’s good practice to nourish and moisturise the skin well, using a moisturiser specifically designed for hands. Another healthy habit, which you should never skip, is a daily shower, which helps , to remove the germs and bacteria that our body encounters every day, followed by regularly changing your sheets and towels. As well as showering, we should also rehydrate the skin with a good body moisturiser.
Special attention should also be given to intimate hygiene. In fact, the most sensitive and delicate areas of our bodies are the ones that are also more sensitive to germs. Using a good intimate hygiene product at least once or twice a day can help prevent the risk of irritation and infection.

Follow these simple rules to help maintain your physical wellbeing and reduce the risk of infectious diseases.

SELF-MASSAGE: BENEFITS AND TECHNIQUES

Self-massage is one of those little rituals that helps us get back in touch with ourselves and maintain the physical and mental balance of our organism.

Morning is the ideal time for a massage but, if you can’t fit one in, you can always find a few minutes at another time of day. The important thing is to find a quiet place and breathe deeply from your stomach before you begin.
It’s best to start a massage from the feet and work your way upwards to the head. Sit down in a comfortable position and start massaging the feet, then move on to the ankles, knees and thighs. After which, lie down and start work on the pelvic area.
To do this, lay on your side and massage your tailbone (coccyx), followed by the hips, buttocks and stomach.
Lie down on your back and start working on your solar plexus, followed by the ribs and the collarbone. One of the areas where most tension builds up is the neck. Massage the area gently, then move on to the arms and hands. Finish your self-massage with the face, forehead and scalp.
Self-massage is an excellent way to work on the inner self and enables you to enter a deep state of relaxation, in which you are the receiver. Practiced regularly, it helps keep your body in good health.

TAKING TIME OUT FOR YOURSELF

With the everyday stresses and strains of work and family life, we often forget to think about ourselves. Sometimes, it’s almost as if we are the last thing on our daily ‘to-do- list. Then when we do finally get the chance to dedicate a little time to ourselves we often feel guilty and selfish for not giving our time and energy to others. But taking time out for ourselves is not selfish at all. It’s the best way to maintain and find the inner peace and balance we need for facing our everyday tasks with more enthusiasm and inner strength. Dedicating time to ourselves is essential for freeing the mind of stress and anxiety. It’s a special time to relax and do the things we truly love.
Obviously, taking time out for ourselves is not the same for everyone. Some people like taking a hot bath, others like going out for a meal with friends, enjoying a glass of wine, reading or taking a walk. Whatever makes you feel good, do it.
The most important thing is deciding how to use this precious time and not put it off and give in to the temptation of doing all the other things we need to do. We should make the most of it and spend it with the people we love and who make us feel good.
